US former president and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, 78, has threatened to sue CBS News in a letter to the network which he had posted on his Truth Social demanding a full and unedited transcript of his rival Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris’s interview with CBS’s “60 Minutes”. In this interview, the media network broadcast two answers to the same question asked on the show.
In the letter, written by Trump’s attorney Edward Paltzik, accuses the broadcaster of airing the “doctored” interview of Kamala Harris, 60, on October 7 “60 Minutes” prime time special in order to mislead the American voters ahead of the US presidential election.
The US presidential election is set for November 5.
“[I]n contemplation of possible litigation, we demand that you preserve all communications and documents relating to this interview, together with any edits of the interview’s content, and that you refrain from destroying any relevant communications or documents,” Trump’s attorney wrote in the “litigation hold and demand” letter to CBS News’ head of legal affairs.

The attorney in his letter to the broadcaster further demanded the network to “immediately provide and publicly release the full, unedited transcript of the ’60 Minutes’ Interview with Kamala Harris.”
This comes after the day when CBS News admitted that Kamala Harris’s response cut down and used a “different portion” to a question about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the prime-time broadcast than it aired in an excerpt played on “Face the Nation” a day earlier, reported the New York Post.
According to Fox News, the controversy began when conservatives mocked Kamala Harris after CBS aired a lengthy and unclear response from her on Sunday’s ‘Face the Nation’ programme to promote the upcoming ’60 Minutes’ interview.
The edited version came after “60 Minutes” reporter Bill Whitaker remarked that “it appears Prime Minister Netanyahu isn’t heeding the advice” from the Harris-Biden administration regarding the Gaza war.
The Democratic nominee’s response on the Oct. 7 broadcast was much clearer and more focused compared to her confusing answer shown in the October 6 preview, which had been mocked online as a “word salad.”
“CBS and its ’60 Minutes’ producers intentionally misled the public by broadcasting a skilfully edited interview transcript, while opting to release other portions online,” Paltzik wrote. “Such manipulative editing was aimed at causing confusion amongst the electorate regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’s abilities, intelligence, and appeal.”

“Due to CBS’ actions, the public cannot distinguish which Kamala Harris they are seeing: the candidate or the puppet of a behind-the-scenes editor,” Paltzik added.
Earlier, the Trump campaign demanded the full and unedited interview video.
Earlier Monday, Trump, 78, said the “60 Minutes” edit “may be the Biggest Scandal in Broadcast History!” reported the New York Post.
“CBS MUST GET THE TRANSCRIPT OUT NOW — Litigation has already started,” he wrote on Truth Social.
